Well this will probably be my last blog post, at least for a while, as my family and I are trying to move overseas (hopefully) in the near future. And, as I sign off of being a part of Katelyn’s Fund’s blog team, I end with a wish. My prayer and my plea is that more people will adopt. Why do I end with this request? Because I have been to Ethiopia...
This week I’ve been pondering one of the incredible blessings of adoption ~ friendships! I’m praising God for the many relationships we wouldn’t have but for adoption. Some are families we’ve traveled with to bring our seven children home. Some follow our blog. Some have children with the same medical needs. Some have children the same age. Some have children from the same orphanage. Some allow us to pray for them, and some encourage us through thick...
Tuesday Testimony is set aside to share some of our grant recipients and their stories. May you be blessed… We are Jeff and Tina. We currently have seven biological children: our oldest son Sam 15, Luke 13, Emily 11, Elizabeth, 9, Anna, 7, William, 4 and Moza, 2. We are in the process of adopting our 8th child from...
Having two daughters born in China – we love to incorporate Chinese holidays when we can! So this time of year we get all excited about our Mid Autumn Moon Festival. We have done all different things to celebrate – from fancy to simple. One year we hung lighted lanterns in the backyard, made our own crab rangoon and other Chinese dishes, bought Moon Cakes, and had our International Student write our names in Chinese Calligraphy for us – all...
Something almost all adoptive parents have in common is the “comments” we receive from people who are curious and/or disapproving of our decision to adopt. Sadly, these comments are not just when we are standing in line at Walmart, but also when we introduce our kids to fellow church members. Some comments are insensitive and some are downright rude… So, you cannot have kids of your own? Why would not you adopt kids that look like you? How much...

We are Dave, Carrie, Micah, Jackson and Karis. There are currently 5 of us, but soon there will be 7. Dave is the pastor of our church. Carrie is a stay-at-home mom to our children. We are currently in process of adopting 2 children from Central Africa.
When we felt stirrings to adopt again last spring, we developed a kind-of mission statement. We’d heard there was a need for families for African-American babies – particularly boys. So our goal was this: We don’t want to find a child for our family. We want to be a family found for a child.
Tuesdays are dedicated to sharing stories from some of our grant recipients. May you be blessed through their stories…. Life was good; we had great jobs, a beautiful home, financially stable and a baby on the way. We were on top of the world and couldn’t wait to be parents. On December 6, 2005 our daughter, Autumn was born and she was...
Tuesdays are dedicated to sharing stories from some of our grant recipients. May you be blessed through their stories…. Jumping through all the hoops to complete an adoption has required more of us than we ever imagined, and the financial costs felt like an impossible mountain to climb. Thanks to adoption grants like Katelyn’s Fund, that mountain isn’t so intimidating anymore. Though we are still waiting to be matched for domestic adoption, knowing that Katelyn’s Fund has...
