We would like to share the stories of some of our grant recipients. Enjoy and be encouraged as you hear their stories.
Sometimes our plans for our lives don’t exactly match up with God’s plan for our lives. We moved to East Asia after two years of marriage to do ministry among college students. Our plan was to have a couple years to get used to life and culture and language in a foreign land and then begin having children. Although we’d talked about adopting even before we were married, it wasn’t until after 5 years of unexplained infertility and lots of failed medical treatments that we realized we had a choice to make: pursue more medical treatments or begin the road of adoption. We felt God tugging on our hearts to trust Him to bring little ones to us through adoption.
We applied to our adoption agency on Christmas Eve 2010 and began paperwork to adopt two girls from the country in which we serve in February 2011. The paperwork process has been long and arduous for us, but we are happy to announce that our dossier has finally been sent here and we should begin to be matched with one little girl by the end of May. We are also pursuing the possibility of fostering and then adopting from the local orphanage. With this method, we will be able to bring our child home while we go through the process of adopting her.
We are so grateful to Katelyn’s Fund for providing us with this grant. We were so encouraged during our interview as the staff prayed for us and our little ones with such genuine love even knowing so little about us and our story.
On our wall in our dining room, we have these words which have sustained us during this painstakingly long process, “When you can’t see God’s hand, trust His heart.”
