For those of you who follow this blog, I would like to introduce myself: Hi, I’m Linsey! I am first and foremost a child of God. I am also a wife of almost 7 years, a mother of two, and a campus minister to college athletes. I am new to the adoption community as my daughter, Hadassah, that I was given through adoption is only 3 1/2 months old! I have a 1 1/2 year old son, Hudson, that...
Something’s been rolling around in my heart lately. Why is it so hard to be salt in this broken world? Jesus said, “You are the salt of the earth.” What’s the purpose of salt? It’s to flavor and season. It should change the thing it’s placed upon, making it come to life! Such is Jesus’ affirmation to us as salt....
He is Able… I know of so many mama's whose hearts cry out to begin the journey once again to find their precious child who waits for them somewhere in the world… Others are waiting to begin the adoption journey for the first time. Often times it is the husband, the daddy who is not yet ready to proceed, or who is adamantly saying no. I was once that mama whose arms ached to hold her daughter so far away… I...
On Tuesdays, we take time to focus on some of our families that have received grants from Katelyn's Fund. May you be blessed by their stories….. We have four biological children, Grace, Lainey, Joah, and Asher, and we are eagerly waiting to travel to Taiwan to meet and bring home our son Zachary who will be two in October! We are so passionate about adoption and are so blessed to be on this journey! We have...
During our trip to pick up our son from Ethiopia, one area of concern that we had was the flight home—the straight 16 hour flight over the ocean home. The flight that we would be parenting a 3 year old boy who did not know us, had hardly ever been in a vehicle (let alone an airplane), and further more didn't know a word of English flight home. Do you see why it was a point of concern? Our trip home went quite well really, save for a few bumpy...
On Tuesdays, we take time to focus on some of our families that have received grants from Katelyn's Fund. May you be blessed by their stories….. We had talked about adoption for years, but it seemed sudden that God brought us to a decision (through His Word, specific prayers, books, and other circumstances) to adopt. We told a few close friends about our plan and asked them to pray for us. Two weeks later, we got...
Blogging on the fly is something I do a lot because…well, because that's life for me right now. On the other hand, I hope to be responsible and take seriously the things I write. I don't want to mislead anyone. As a youth leader, Sunday school teacher, wife, parent and believer, I will be held accountable for the things I say and do (and don't do). All that to say, I was asked a question today that is worthy of addressing...
On Tuesdays, we take time to focus on some of our families that have received grants from Katelyn's Fund. May you be blessed by their stories….. Being itinerant workers with a linguistic organization in Africa working on Bible translation, living by the financial and prayer support of dear friends and churches mostly in the USA, and knowing that our organization has a 'no debt policy', we knew that the financial end of our international adoption would require...
We send our little ones out the door and they enter the school and then adoption comes up – now what do we do?? This mom has some great ideas for how to help our kids talk about adoption in school! I asked for permission to link this post up to our site. Adoption Links for School Enjoy!! ...
I forgot to take my son to dance today. He’s five. He loves it. Our conversation went like this. Mom, “Jaden, I’m sorry, I forgot to take you to dance today. I’m sorry, bud.” Jaden, “That's okay, we can go tomorrow.” “No, they don’t have it tomorrow; we have to wait till next week.” Jaden, "Why I have to skip dance?" “Cuz your mom forgot.” Jaden, "I should said, 'Mom! Dance!"
