We are currently leading a series for adoptive/foster parents at our church and one of the things that came up was that maybe our churches would like to know better how to come alongside our adoptive/foster families. This was a BIG thought to me – so what we hope to do is ask our families what are things they would find helpful?? Someone to take their kids for a break, help driving to appointments, etc. I am excited about this – about giving others a way to come alongside and help other families. It sometimes seems so obvious, but I think often people have no idea what would be helpful to us. Anyone ever done anything like this?? Or do you feel that people know already how to help you and your family?? All families come with their own needs, I do know that, but I wonder if being adoptive families makes it seem even harder for others to know what we need?
