You may be familiar with the site “Awkward Family Photos<http://awkwardfamilyphotos.com/>.” I love paging through the photos of families in awkward situations. If you click on the site, I’m quite sure you will laugh out loud.
Recently, my college aged daughter introduced herself to a new friend. She explained that she has two little sisters who are adopted. The new friend said, “Wow! That seems like it would make for an awkward family dynamic.”
I have many family pictures that might make an awkward family photo site. It is downright difficult to get all six kids, one daughter-in-law and one beautiful grandbaby together in one spot, clean and smiling.
Our family is awkward. We are big and noisy; black and white and old and young. We are conspicuous. We draw attention from everyone from Walmart to church.
Yes. We’re awkward, messy and unconventional. We’re not likely to win any mother/daughter look-alike contest. I think it is just this fact that makes us even more dependent on the Creator of us all to bind us together as a family.
