I’ve lost my ducks.

My marbles aren’t in a row.

Wait a minute…I have ducks?!?

Seriously, this time of year for me is a zoo.  Craziness.  Borderline insanity.

In about a month I’ll be doing much much better.  But get me through until then….Lord help me! (and I  mean that literally).

So….

If you’re reading this blog, you’re probably a parent, considering being a parent, or paper pregnant.

Therefore, there have been times where you’ve debated having marbles as well.  Theoretically.

So what is a person to do?

Sorry those of you with a Y chromosome, I’m a gal.  This advice isn’t for you.  Not really.  Cuz I can’t come up with ideas for you.  If you’d like, you can text my husband, he may have some.  He hasn’t lost his mar….errrr…ducks…but he’s been close.  And he’s watched me lose them.  His number is 555-CHILL.

So what’s a gal to do?

Take. Care. Of. Yourself.

Need I say it again?  Take care of yourself.  Yourself, take care of YOU.  Care of your-self.  Take time for yourself.

No time, you say?  FIND TIME.  Carve it out of the woodwork.  Wear your underwear two days in a row if you don’t have time to do laundry (just don’t share that info with me, TMI you know.  Ok, maybe jeans, wear a pair of jeans two days in a row.  Buy a few more pairs of undergarments).  Let the dishes sit.  I. Don’t. Care. if they’ve been sitting for two days already.

If you totally lose your marbles, your family will suffer.  How’s THAT for a reason?  Ask my family, they’ll tell you.  When Mamma ain’t happy, well, you know.

So, what should you do?  Hmmmm…..

  • Read a book (NOT a parenting book)
  • Watch your favorite show
  • Have a cup of coffee, latte, macchiato, cappuccino, iced coffee, decaf coffee, brewed tea, steamer, whipped, soy, or non-fat with a friend (or my favorite: a diet coke!)
  • Get your nails done
  • Get your toes done
  • Exercise (find something you enjoy, or at least don’t hate)
  • Sit someplace quiet where you can’t see all the things on your to-do list and BREATHE
  • Read your Bible
  • Pray
  • Dance
  • Laugh
  • Play with a puppy (preferably not one you’re trying to train)
  • Swap that donut for a salad
  • Go to a movie
  • Go out for supper with a loved one
  • Journal
  • Get a massage
  • Talk a walk
  • Make yourself a hot cup of tea and read a blog

and on and on…I’m sure you could come up with more.

Tonight, after I freaked out because I had totally procrastinated something that needed doing and then somewhat addressed it, I made a cup of peppermint dandelion root tea (calming and liver cleansing all in one…I know, weird, but it works for me).  Then I sat on the couch and watched a favorite show with my hubby.  Even though I can’t walk in my laundry room.

YOU, yes YOU….

are worth taking care of.

Just do it.
