The word “adoption” came into our vocabulary before we were married almost twelve years ago. We had no expectations or time frame linked to adopting, but just knew that God was calling us to be open to that calling – and to trust in Him. Since then, God has blessed us with two amazing biological children and we now feel that He has nudged us forward to adopt. We feel God saying: trust Me – it’s time.
We have chosen to pursue a domestic adoption after many months of researching, preparing, praying, and seeking to determine our adoptive course. We are currently in-between being approved and being placed – so, we’re waiting for God to show us who He will be matching us with. We feel God saying: trust Me – I’ll show you in my time.
We have been waiting to be placed about five months – long enough to experience the ebbs and flows of waiting. We have a lot of wonderings, sometimes doubt, sometimes patience, sometimes insecurity, sometimes complete joy, sometimes complete eagerness. We have seen God at work in our five-year old regarding waiting as well. At her age, it’s a struggle to have patience. But, God has orchestrated a calm presence in her that has helped her understand and be okay with “we don’t know when”. At all times, we are so grateful for the circle of family and friends that have given us encouragement and prayer support. They have been sources of great strength. We feel God saying: trust Me – my timing is perfect.
We are also so grateful to be able to include Katelyn’s Fund in that circle of support. As so many families will testify to, their financial support as well as their holistic prayer support of our family has been such a blessing to us. When we met with the interviewing group, we felt such a strong presence of God, it was overwhelming. We want to say a heartfelt thank you to all of the members of Katelyn’s Fund as well as all those that have financially contributed to Katelyn’s Fund. You have encouraged, affirmed, and reduced a significant financial stress for us and many other families. We feel God saying: trust Me – I will provide in my own way, in my own time. Just give Me control – and trust Me.
