I was able to witness a beautiful wedding ceremony yesterday.  My cousin was married to his beautiful bride in a ceremony that was immersed with the love they have for Christ and one another.  What a sweet thing to watch young love and deep relationship that is rooted in Christ and His love for us.  I was struck, as I watched them, with how much life they have ahead of them and look forward to seeing the ways that God uses them as a united team.  I know this adventure of marriage will bring so much joy and also many challenges and I pray that they are able to always seek Christ in times of happiness and sorrow.

I also was thinking about the many adoptive families that started with a couple who stood before their friends and family uniting together in marriage.  Often when entering the adoption process you are not in that young love phase, but rather, have lived some already in married life and have experienced some challenges.  My prayer in watching this beautiful ceremony yesterday was that each adoptive couple, parenting children from hard places, could return to that moment of love, devotion and seeking The Lord’s will for their lives and family.  When that journey gets hard it is easy to forget that ‘young love’ and have moments of facing it alone instead of relying on one another.  I want to encourage unity and a return to nurturing that relationship that at one time was young love!

“May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you a spirit of unity among yourselves as you follow Christ Jesus, so that with one heart and mouth you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.  Accept one another, then, just as Christ accepted you, in order to bring praise to God.”  ~  Romans 15:5-7
