Ah, May. How I love your fresh spring breezes (here more often gale force winds, but let’s ignore that), sunshine, flowering trees, and the smell of freshly mowed grass. Ahhh….
Not to mention enjoying soccer games, track meets, concerts and extra school events…
Ok, I DO enjoy those. But they tend to get a bit out of hand in May.
Hubby in the field from early in the morning til late and night, and crabby kids cuz they miss their dad and they’re extra busy…
STOP.
Nope, do NOT enjoy that. Nope not one bit. In fact, I yelled at aforementioned crabby kids at supper tonight. In my crabby voice. Loud. Ahem. Not my finest moment.
Can I rewind? Or fast forward a few weeks from now when school is out and (hopefully, weather permitting) their dad is home more?
Would I want to? Ok, right this minute? Yes, I want to. Bring it on, pretty please. Make it June 1st. Craziness behind us. Well, a certain level of craziness anyway. Summer has it’s own craziness with all the kids home and activities. But…I love summertime, yes I do.
What’s a mom to do? Where am I to go when I’m ready to pull out my hair?
Sidebar: You should have seen me. Leaving to pick up my daughter from dance tonight I caught a glimpse of myself in the rear-view mirror. Literally with both hands up in my hair. Not pulling, but close.
I can’t help but recall the memory verse I was going over with my son tonight from Joshua 1. Here’s parts of it:
“Be strong and courageous, because you will lead these people…Be strong and very courageous…do not turn to the right or to the left…that you may be successful wherever you go…Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; mediate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.”
Ok, what have I learned? To be STRONG and COURAGEOUS. How? By meditating on God’s word day and night. Guess what gets pushed to the side when I’m super busy? You guessed it. Not cool.
I have people to lead. Little people. And I so want to be successful. I want them to be successful. Bring on the Book.
I’m gonna go meditate.
