Luke 12: “Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? And not one of them is forgotten before God. Why, even the hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not; you are of more value than many sparrows.”
Two years ago, my husband unexpectedly lost his job and our family was in limbo for several months while we transitioned. It was a time of faith in the midst of fear; trust in the midst of anxiety. One of the everyday miracles that was an incredible source of joy and faith to me was a little sparrow’s nest that we watched be built, eggs laid and hatched, and baby birds grow and fly away right outside of our door.
Through this adoption journey, we are reminded of how little control we have–we are at this point helpless and remain at the mercy of others’ work on behalf of our boys. It is, to say the least, a tough place to be. Wasn’t it kind of the Lord, then, when just this weekend we saw this precious nest being build right outside of our door!? It was the Lord’s way of reminding me that “his eye is on the sparrow, and I know he watches over me…” (and my boys a million miles away…) He is a God of detail, of order, of careful planning, and He holds us all.
