After getting married and a few years of prayer, we were excitedly feeling the Lord giving us the “green light” with growing our family through adoption. We applied to an adoption agency, and God’s hands were all over it. Clearances that normally took weeks were arriving in our mailbox in days. Less than a month after our approved home study, we received a phone call saying a young girl had chosen us to be the family for her baby. She was pregnant before we even reached out to the adoption agency. The Lord had known we were who He had for her and sped everything along for His plan. I write this sitting in a hospital room, watching Sean as he holds this sweet little girl. Katelyn’s fund grant will allow us to be able to bring her home this week. We are so grateful to how the Lord has provided through this ministry.
God has been teaching us about the beauty of adoption; we adopt because He first adopted us. He not only brought us into His family, choosing us as sons, but also brought us into His covenant with Israel. Just like how we once were broken but have been redeemed and restored, He wants to use our family to show His gospel by bringing about redemption and restoration. His adoption of us has taken on such a deeper meaning to us as we walk this journey, especially how He has given us a name and family and heritage that wasn’t ours before. The desire to reflect His name well has only increased in our lives.
