Yesterday, my sixth grader came home and said, “I want to quit band!”

This is my fourth child to attempt band and as of yet, none of them have survived. This time, I want it to be different.  This child came to us through older child, transracial adoption. She has many ways to be different than other kids. I really want her to have as many healthy points of connection with her peers as possible. Music is a lifelong gift, one that could potentially tie her to her community and to her church in unique ways.

So….with new resolve, I am trying to figure out a practice schedule that won’t overwhelm either one of us.

Sometimes the little things can seem so hard!
