When they are taken, they are not missed.

When they are abused, they are not heard.

According to the US State Department, somewhere between 600,000 and 800,000 people are trafficked across international borders each year, and approximately 50 percent of those trafficked are children.*

“…many of the world’s great evils are intertwined with orphan issues.  One of the most gripping examples of this is the intersection between human trafficking and orphanhood.  The cold, hard reality is that a child that lacks a provider and protector is the ideal target for traffickers.   The vulnerability and need of an orphan makes them the perfect victim, from forced prostitution to slave labor.”  Jedd Medefind, Orphans and Human Trafficking:  Reflections and the January Webinar

Proverbs 31: 8-9 says, “Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute. Speak up and judge fairly: defend the rights of the poor and needy.”

We have been called to care.  We have been called to defend.  We have been called to speak up.

Pray today asking God how he would use you on the orphan’s behalf.  Let’s make our voices loud!
