Our adoption story starts with the birth of our first child, Maggie. She was born with a rare condition called Rhombencephalosynapsis with severe hydrocephalus. Doctors said we may only have minutes or hours with her. We prayed and prayed, and the Lord gave us 3 amazing years with her. Since then, we have had adoption in our hearts. We have had 2 more children. Our son Noah and our daughter Isabella.
Last fall, God started sending us signs that the time was right to adopt, and He constantly sent us signs that India was where we needed to go. God again showed His presence in our lives this past February. We get 1 night away every 6 months. Ashley’s work had their annual Casino Night party. We decided to stay in a hotel that night ( We live about 40 minutes away from a hospital or city). That night, Nathan had a heart attack. Ashley did CPR and called 911. By the time EMS had arrived, his heart had started again. He coded again at the hospital, they got him back, and cardiology placed a stent. God put him 2 miles from the hospital!
If we had been home, Nathan wouldn’t have made it. For us, this shows God has bigger plans for us. We feel God kept Nathan here to allow us to adopt our child. To have one less orphan in this world! During the adoption process we have been fundraising and looking up grants that we would be eligible for. For some reason, God had us put on our notes, “Apply for Katelyn’s Fund first.” We felt drawn to an organization that had our same values. We are so blessed that they have approved us for a grant. We are so overjoyed and feel as if this is just another sign from God that we are on the path He wants us to take!
