Grant Recipient Story: Jonathan and Erin

Adoption has been in both our hearts for years. We were both raised with close friends and family members who were adopted. We knew it would be a part of our story, but only God knew how the story would unfold.

We struggled with infertility for years and lost two children. Those were the worst years of our lives. However, the Lord proved faithful. He sustained us and provided for us through the grieving process. We decided that adoption was the direction that the Lord was leading us in. Though we could not conceive our own children to nurture and care for, there were many other children who had no parents to nurture and care for them.

We started the standard adoption training in late 2022 and began applying for cases in the last week of 2022. In mid-2023, we were matched with the birth mother of our adopted daughter! We formed a relationship with her in the months leading up to the birth, even consulting her for baby names that would pay tribute to her ethnicity and birth heritage. The loss of our first two babies has changed the way we love, cherish, and care for our adopted baby. It has been the most rewarding thing we have done as a couple, and we are ready to do it again! We desire to emulate the example of our Heavenly Father, who adopted us unconditionally and gave us a new life.

We are now matched with a birth mom who is due with a baby boy at the end of 2024. We were matched very quickly and getting the money together to pay for legal expenses has been trying. But God provides!! Through grants like Katelyn’s Fund, our adoption is almost fully funded! God is good; He always makes a way. We know He will provide for us and our future children (and their birth families).

We believe God has placed us in this unique circumstance to share His gospel with the children we are honored to bring into our home as our own. When we got the call 6 weeks after completing our revised home study that we were matched, we panicked. We were thrilled but also scared. Where would the money come from to cover all the adoption costs? How would we pay all these expenses AND care for this new little life? We said “yes” and trusted God. He has come through!! He has provided through grants, friends, and family the money we need to logistically be able to bring this baby boy home. He has also surrounded us with supportive people who have spoken encouraging truth into our lives.
