Teaching our children to stand firm in their faith

Posted by on August 10, 2012

Our Luke often needs demonstrations, stories and tangible examples in order to apply what we are attempting to teach him. Recently, we used hands-on ways to teach him about the armor of God. For a child who has so often felt alone, vulnerable and on high-alert, learning that God has given him real, spiritual armor helps him know that he will be safe and to remember that God has equipped him to fight the hard things in life.

Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.

In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints. Ephesians 6:14-18
