This verse in the bible is short. The order is tall. It’s hard to practice hospitality. It is for me. I never feel worthy, or ready, or adequate. Last week, God challenged me to really practice it and I welcomed two Brittish soccer coaches into my home at the last minute. The house was a disaster and I had no food in the kitchen….but they needed a place to crash and I had that. By the week’s end, I was offering to do their laundry, laughing while they rolled on the floor with my puppy, beaming with pride when they watched my toddler put on a dance show….and feeling more like we were family than that I was a hostess. I miss these boys already. I hope our paths cross again. God taught me something. To practice hospitality is biblical…..not to be generous….but to receive blessing. I am so blessed by this week of random acts of kindness….and I miss my Brittish soccer coaches alot. It’s good to pay attention to what the bible tells us to do. It really, really is.
