Summer break started at 11:30am and these words echoed through the house not once, but twice, by 3pm. Seriously? Seriously?!? Yes, sadly. For the third or fourth year in a row, I sat down to make a posted list of things to do when you feel bored. My kids are just not very good at entertaining themselves. A few weeks into summer break, they do fine, but the transition from being told what to do every minute of the day, to wide-open space and freedom is too much for them. The list is helping. I haven’t heard the phrase at all today, on day 2 of summer break.
I’m sitting here, marvelling at the phrase, “I’m bored.” I have a basket of half-folded laundry scattered around my laptop. I have my planner and work documents just up and to the left….the tent that Precious pulled out of the bag, then drug up from the basement to play in, is bunched up on the oother side of the table. My dishes are done, thank goodness…..and on and on. I can’t remember the last time I was bored….I really, really can’t. I think it was back in the ’80s.
