“I’m Bored”?!?

Summer break started at 11:30am and these words echoed through the house not once, but twice, by 3pm. Seriously? Seriously?!? Yes, sadly. For the third or fourth year in a row, I sat down to make a posted list of things to do when you feel bored. My kids are just not very good at … Continue reading »

Parched Ground

The parched ground shall become a pool… Isaiah 35:7 This week as I read about the glory of the new kingdom, I am also reminded of the new life God gives us here on this Earth. My life was once a ‘parched land,’ and then I accepted the gift purchased for me long ago … Continue reading »

God’s Speed…

I remember when I first saw this painting… I believe the artist titled it, "Waiting".   Each time I would look at it I could not help but think of my daughter the Lord had put in my heart…  Each time I looked at it I could not help but think of the over 147,000,000 children … Continue reading »

Birthday Twin??

“Guess what! I have a birthday twin in my class. Cassie was born on July 6, 2002 just like me. She was born right at noon. We want to know if we were born at the same time. We have to see what time I was born in Ethiopia and match it to what time she was born in America to see if it was at the same time. We need to figure out the time change. Mom! What time was I born?!?” Continue reading »

"The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me…He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted… to give them beauty for ashes…that He might be glorified." –Isaiah 61:1-3   I have heard that: "Adoption is born of loss and sacrifice." This Mother's Day I have thought a lot about that statement. In every miracle … Continue reading »

Little Emma

Little Emma died today.  She came to Sarah's Covenant Homes, in India, last fall as a fragile newborn.  She had spina bifida and hydrocephalus.  She was emaciated, ignored, rejected.  She was found by a street sweeper, outside of the hospital doors, I believe.  Upon rescue, she was brought to SCH, barely alive.  Well, if I … Continue reading »

Mothers Day Reflection

Today on Mother’s Day, I am contemplating mothers of the Bible–and my heart can’t move on from dwelling on Moses’ mother, Jochebed. We may be familiar with her story: hiding her newborn son for three months, sending him down the river to be taken in and adopted by Pharaoh’s daughter. What deep heartache she must … Continue reading »

“happy” mother’s day

It's friday afternoon and the weekend of Mother's Day.  Many of us are making plans for special outings with our kids and families.  We may have reservations for a yummy brunch that involves no cooking or clean-up for mom.  We may be looking forward to homemade crafts and gifts our kids will bring home from … Continue reading »
