While I do not condone what this mother did AT ALL - part of me really feels for her. I have prayed for her often. Sometimes, when you are given a child that is WAY MORE than you think you can handle, and you are trying to go-it-alone, I am sure you feel overwhelmed and alone. I think you hit the nail on the head - we need each other - no matter what God has given us to deal with and we need to be honest with each other. When we are honest and open, THEN true healing and help can take place. AMEN and AMEN to your post!!

When I was a little girl and turned to complaining, my grandma would often sing, "Count your blessings, name them one by one! Count your many blessings, see what God has done."

God has done a multitude of things in my life. I am first and foremost grateful that He rescued me. I'm thankful that He gave me a wonderful husband and 4 beautiful children. I'm thankful that He opened my eyes to the gift of adoption and the realization of my own adoption as His child. I'm thankful (and particularly mindful of, today) my health and the health of my family (even with a 7-year-old who has a low-grade fever and cough today). I'm thankful for the education I was granted, for the freedom of religion we experience, and for making me uniquely (others are probably thankful for that last one too -- there really is no one quite like me!).

Thank you for this great reminder, Sherri. My blessings today are too numerous to count.

I love love love children's responses!! That was wonderful. Matter of fact and silly all in the same tune. As adults, we can learn a lot from our kids. Great post! Thanks for sharing.

Such a good reminder! It's like this with marriage, too. You have to choose everyday to love, even when there aren't always "warm fuzzies." And, I can imagine that God doesn't always experience warm fuzzies with me, but He will NEVER stop loving me!
